Fond bytového hospodárstva, Bratislava
This institution was established as an autonomous legal entity by Act No 110/1950 of 12 July 1950 on the organisation of residential property and Fond bytového hospodárstva (Housing Industry Fund). It replaced the original State Housing Fund established by Act No 98/1919 and took over its rights and obligations (other than real estate, which passed, together with its rights and obligations, to the state).
It arranged financing for residential property of national and municipal enterprises and unified agricultural cooperatives. It financed housing transactions and provided funds for its clients to procure housing investments.
Housing investments included not only the construction of flats and houses but also their renovation if they had been rendered uninhabitable by war, occupation or natural disasters, and other repairs that added value. Housing investments were incorporated into the united economic plan.
The Fund was managed by a committee comprising a chairman, a deputy and seven members appointed by the minister of labour and welfare after agreement with the minister of finance.
The Fund reported to the Ministry of Labour and Welfare but the Ministry of Finance played a role in its supervision. It managed the state’s rights and obligations related to the renewal and construction of housing in towns and villages in Slovakia.
Investičná banka, national enterprise, provided administrative, accounting and treasury services for the Fund under a specific contract.
The Fund was wound up under Act No 106/1953 of 22 December 1953 on housing construction, the upkeep and administration of residential property and their financing.
Archival documents relating to the activities of Fond bytového hospodárstva were originally stored in the corporate archive of Štátna banka československá in Marianka. In the period 1975 – 1977, they were transferred to the bank’s archives building at 27 Krajná Street and in 2003 they were moved to the archives building of Národná banka Slovenska at 8 Cukrová Street in Bratislava.
The fonds includes documents from 1946 to 1954, mainly correspondence and balance sheets of national enterprises, contributions relating to construction and other purposes from several regional administrations and accounting documents. The documents are in good physical condition. The fonds occupies 6 linear metres. The first register of the archival fonds was made in 2015.
