Archive services for the public

The NBS Archives are open to the public on working days from Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It closes for a lunch break from 12 p.m. to 12.45 p.m. The Archives are closed to the public in July, August and September.

Documents for research are made available at the NBS Archives research room at 8 Cukrova Street in Bratislava.

Inquiries concerning research in the NBS Archives or the provision of information on archival records should be sent to the NBS Archives Section in writing, either by email to archiv@nbs.sk or by post to Národná banka Slovenska, oddelenie správy majetku a registratúry, Imricha Karvaša 1, 813 25 Bratislava.

In an application for the provision of information on archival records, applicants must include their full name and address, details known to the applicant about the record(s) requested, the purpose for which the applicant intends to use the record(s), a statement as to whether the applicant is the originator of the archived records, the originator’s legal successor, or the owner of the record(s). When not requesting access on their own behalf, applicants must state the full name of the natural person, or the business name and registered office address of the legal entity for whose purpose the information is requested.

If requesting archival record(s) less than 90 years old that contain personal data, the applicant must submit written consent to the request from the person concerned or that person’s legal representative, or, if that person is no longer alive, the written consent of that person’s surviving next of kin.

Requests to access archival record(s) can also be submitted through the research portal of the NBS Archives (access from the first tab in the main menu).

In cases where on-site access to archival record(s) is permitted, applicants are required to comply with the Rules for Research of the NBS Archives.

The NBS Archives Section makes copies and certified copies of archival record(s) upon request. These copies are made for payment according to the price list. The Rules for Research of the NBS Archives and the price list are also available in the NBS Archives research room.
