Priemyselná banka, Liptovský Mikuláš
Priemyselná banka, účastinná spoločnosť (Industrial Bank, joint-stock company), Liptovský Mikuláš, was established in 1913 with share capital of 300,000 Austro-Hungarian crowns (K). There is, however, some information that it had operated since 1894 as a consortium led by Juraj Lacko. The chairman of the board of directors was Jozef Kállay, the vice-chairman was Rehor Uram, the authorised signatory was Peter Droppa, the accountant was Daniel Gállay and the treasurer was Ján Ballo. The bank was unsuccessful in its declared aim of promoting industrial production in Liptovský Mikuláš, so in 1920 it agreed to a merger with Turčianskosvätomartinská sporiteľňa (Turčiansky Svätý Martin Savings Bank) in Martin, thus ending its activities after eight years.
Only limited documentation of the bank’s activities was preserved, covering 1913 and the period from 1919 to 1920. The documents may be of use in studies of the consolidation of Slovak banking system after 1918. The archival documents were initially kept in the corporate archives of Štátna banka československá (State Bank of Czechoslovakia) in Ružomberok, where they were put in order and a temporary inventory was made. They were relocated to the archives of Národná banka Slovenska in Bratislava in 1993. The temporary inventory dating from 1968 was revised in 2016.
