Plešivecká hospodárska banka, Plešivec

Plešivecká hospodárska banka, účastinná spoločnosť (Plešivec Farm Bank, joint-stock company), was established in 1912 under the Hungarian name Pelsőczi közgazdasági bank, r. t. Its share capital was 150,000 Austro-Hungarian crowns (K). This was represented by 1,500 shares with a nominal value of K 100 each.

The bank was authorised to carry out all banking transactions permitted by law, to take deposits, to arrange loans and to purchase real estate. It was a relatively small financial institution. Between 1913 and 1915, it reported a net profit of K 15,000, savings book deposits around K 200,000 and loans for K 300,000.

The members of the board of directors and supervisory board included Jozef Szent-Iványi, Bertalan Hevessy, Ján Disza, Karol Becze, Ladislav Kathona, Andrej Lörincz, Jozef Miklossy, Jozef Rabin, Bertalan Schön, Miksa Bergstein, Miksa Weisz, Karol Uxa, Andrej Matis, Andrej Kardos and Martin Gold amongst others. It operated until 1925, when it entered liquidation.

Preserved archival material on the bank was stored in the archive of Štátna banka československá in Bratislava until 1965, when it was transferred to the corporate archive of Štátna banka československá at 2 Šrobárova Street in Košice by order of the Slovak Archives Administration. In 1992 the complete fonds was deposited in the Archives of Národná banka Slovenska at 27 Krajná Street in Bratislava and it was moved to the building at 8 Cukrová Street in Bratislava in 2003. An initial inventory was made in 1967 and revised in 2016 at the Archives of Národná banka Slovenska. The bank’s documents are stored in one archival box and consist of balance sheets for 1911 and the period 1921 to 1924, and the minutes of general meetings from 1921 to 1925.
