Sečovská úverná pokladnica

Sečovská úverná pokladnica (Sečovce Credit Union) was a cooperative in the town of Sečovce, probably founded in the 1920s. Until 1943 it was a member of the Ústredné družstvo (Central Cooperative), a high-level organisation uniting cooperatives in Slovakia and Sub-Carpathian Ruthenia. It later became a member of Živnozväz – the Association of Trade Credit Institutions and Cooperatives in Slovakia and Sub-Carpathian Ruthenia.

The cooperative operated until 1950 despite being in liquidation since 1941. The liquidation was overseen by Sedliacka banka in Bratislava through its branch in Sečovce, which it acquired during the liquidation of the Sečovce branch of Dunajská banka. This branch had been established in 1926 when Sečovský peňažný ústav, účastinná spoločnosť (Sečovce Financial Institution, joint-stock company) merged with Dunajská Banka.

In a wave of consolidation in 1948, Sedliacka banka was taken over by Slovenská banka (Slovak Bank), which subsequently became part of Slovenská Tatra banka (Slovak Tatra Bank). All the rights and obligations in this bank were rolled into the newly established Štátna banka československá (State Bank of Czechoslovakia) in 1950.

The preserved archival material was entered in the corporate archives of Štátna banka československá in Košice. In 1990 the fonds was relocated to the Archives of Národná banka Slovenska at 27 Krajná Street in Bratislava and in 2003 the documents were moved to the building at 8 Cukrová Street in Bratislava. A partial inventory of the fonds was made in the corporate archives of Štátna banka československá in 1967 and this was revised in the Archives of Národná banka Slovenska in 2016.
