Ľudové peňažné ústredie, Bratislava
Ľudové peňažné ústredie (People’s Banking Centre) was established in Bratislava to act as a financial centre for all cooperatively owned credit institutions in Slovakia. It began operating on 15 November 1948 and at the end of that month it took over three central cooperatives – Ústredné družstvo, Živnozväz and Zväz roľníckych vzájomných pokladníc. The Centre ceased to exist on 30 June 1949, when it was merged with Poštová sporiteľňa (Postal Savings Bank) in Bratislava.
The documents of the Centre cover the period from 1948 to 1950. They consist mainly of correspondence with banking institutions, central state administration bodies and subordinate member institutions. The archival fonds has not been processed. It is preserved in the archives of Národná banka Slovenska at 8 Cukrová Street in Bratislava.
